Molasses Cookies

3/4 Cup Molasses
3/4 Cup Buttermilk
3/4 Cup Butter or Shortening
1 Tsp. Ginger
1/2 Tsp. Soda
2 Tsp. Baking Powder
3 1/2 Sifted Flour
1/2 Tsp. Salt
1 1/2 Tsp. Cinnamon
1 Tsp. Vanilla
1 Egg
1/3 Cup Brown Sugar
1/2 Nutmeg
Cream shortening. Beat in egg, sugar, and molasses. Add milk. Add dry ingredients. Chill. Roll 1/8" thick and bake at 350 degrees  for 12 minutes.
 
 

 

 

Soft Molasses Cookies

4 1/2 Sifted Flour
1 Tsp. Soda
2 Tsp. Baking Powder
3 Tsp. Ginger
Sift Three Times
1/2 Tsp. Salt
1 Cup Butter or shortening
1 Cup Brown Sugar ( packed )
2 Eggs
3/4 Cup Molasses
3/4 Cup ButtermilK
2 Tsp. Vanilla
Cream butter, slowly beat in sugar, beat  thoroughly. Add beaten eggs and molasses. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Beat after each addtion of the ingredients. Chill two or three hours. Roll using  flour lightly. Roll should  be 1/8 " thick. Cut and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for about 12 minutes.
