The Modern Fashion and Invention Activity is an exercise in which students create new uses for unique objects, including old car parts and/or cooking utensils.  Groups of students choose items from a collection of odd gadgets, take digital photographs of their inventions in use, write newspaper articles describing their inventions, and finally design web pages displaying their edited articles and descriptive photographs.  The activity encourages cooperative group work, while meeting several standard course of study competencies for Language Arts, Information Skills, and Computer Technology Skills.  The Modern Fashion and Invention Activity promotes exploratory learning, as well as communication of student ideas through various forms of media.
