Summary

The Journal of Jasper Jonathan Pierce is written exactly as the title says, in journal format. It is written from September 16, 1620 to December 9, 1621 with an epilogue that catches you up on the rest of his life.  He writes about his journey to the New World on the Mayflower, how he can to be on the Mayflower, and what happens as they first inhabit the "new" land. A main theme throughout the book is Jasper missing his brother, Tom, who was supposed to have boarded the Mayflower but did not. Jasper writes in the journal in hopes of sending it to his brother and getting his brother to come to the New World and be with him. Through this book you see the hardship of the pilgrims setting up a place to live in a "new" world and the first interactions of the Native Americans and the Europeans. While reading this book, it is hard to remember that it is not real but a historical fiction book. It is very entertaining and informative book that is easy to read.
