Diane Butts is a third grade teacher at Mabel Elementary School.  She has been part of the Mabel family since 1987.  She is originally from Birmingham, Michigan.  She graduated from Bowling Green State University located in Ohio.  She has three children and enjoys reading mysteries.  Her most memorable moment at Mabel Elementary School was moving from the old school to the new school building.

- One classroom event that Mrs. Butts plans to participate in this year is Biography Day, in which students will read about famous people and dress up as one of those people.

- The opportunities provided by the school system to learn new strategies to meet student needs impacts what she does in the classroom.  She also had a wonderful teacher in the fifth grade and another special teacher in high school who motivated her to become a teacher.

- Joyelle Parker is an assistant in Mrs. Butts Classroom.  She also works with the Middle School's A.G. program.

- Faye Oliver is the assistant teacher in Mrs. Butts' classroom.
