Classroom Modification Suggestions
Adopt a buddy system- pair a native
speaker with a non-native speaker.
Adapt the content to include material
which incorporates the limited English speaking student's culture.
Focus on classroom activities that
incorporate content as well as language.
When communicating with parents,
first make sure the parents are literate in their first language.

If parent's are literate in their first
language, send home pre translated letters.

If parent's are not literate in their
first language, have notes translated and tape record them.

You can also find someone who speaks
the student's native language and have them translate parent/teacher conferences.
