Today, you will be writing a newspaper article or advertisement about a Modern Fashion or Invention that you (and a partner) will “create” using junk. This “junk” is a collection of items that I have found that is interesting to look at and can be used for other purposes IF you use your IMAGINATION.** Again, the object must be used for a purpose it was not originally designed for. **
Follow these steps to create a Modern Fashion or Invention:
1) Get a partner (or have one assigned to you).
2) One partner will go to the box of “junk” and select an object.
3) Together and individually, brainstorm ways that the object could be used as a new
wardrobe accessory or an invention to help around the house, work, or school.

4) Once you and your partner have selected an invention, use the digital camera. Please
follow teacher’s directions for the use of the camera if you do not know how to use it
properly!
5) Individually, write a draft of your newspaper article or advertisement. Try to include at
least 3 paragraphs containing the following information:6) Word process your own draft using a word processor or Netscape Composer. Be sure to· A description of the invention/modern fashion
· The names of the “inventor” (you and your partner)
· An interview or statement from the inventors and/or from customers who
have tried the product
use the “Spell Check” and “Grammar Check” if available. If the program does not have
these options, have a peer edit your paper. Print out at one copy to turn in. Be sure your
name is on it!
7) Using Photoshop, modify or change your pictures (with your partner). You should make
them smaller (the amount of space it takes up on your disk) and crop them if you want.
See the “Tools” link below for help.
8) Using Netscape Composer, create your web page! Move your text or paper from another
location (such as from the A drive) to this page if you didn’t word process the paper in
Netscape Composer. You can change the background color, the text color and size, and
place your pictures on the page (also from your 3 ½” Floppy disk). If you need help with
creating the web page, click the link below.
9) Be sure to SAVE YOUR WORK!
