Modern Fashion & Invention
The Modern Fashion & Invention is an assignment designed to create new uses for old items. Students choose from various items and write a short news article explaining the new use to their product and to persuade customers to buy it. Finally, they will create a web page presenting their invention. Students will enjoy becoming the inventor and becoming creative with their products. This lesson was designed for 3rd grade, but may easily be accommodated to fit other grade levels (and match standards in those areas as well). This activity enforces writing, information, and computer skills along with imagination.
