The students are to pull up the web page and move the pictures around. They will put the pictures in the order they think they should go and write a story to explain them. They move the pictures from web page (copy and paste) onto a word processing document. The students will be recognizing some of the benefits of the word processing document such as keeping their stories on file and with pictures through creating, saving, and printing their work. They will identify the word processing devices as physical component of the computer. They will locate the database for the pictures and use the pictures to tell a story.
By writing a story, we are integrating English Literature competencies. First, the students are to follow directions and instructions to produce a work. They are using written language to present information in a sequenced, logical manner and narration. First, the students will look at the pictures and predict what they think is happening and make sense of what they see by creating a story using setting, characters, the character's goal(s), a plot with a problem and solution, and a theme. Not only are the students working on the above, but they are working on all the components of competency 5 that deal with applying grammar and language conventions to communicate effectively.
