Software Evaluation

I chose the software “Where in the U.S.A. is Carmen Sandiego?” for my evaluation.  I would definitely use this in my classroom because it introduces United States geography.  It is an excellent way to familiarize the students with the states, and facts about them.    There are many ways you could use this software in the classroom.  First, you could use it as a small group activity, if students get caught up in their work, and need something to do.  Also, you could use it as a whole group and have everyone work together.  This software would also be a good tool for history because it includes facts from the past about each state.  One strength of this software is that it is interesting for the students.  It keeps their attention and is very hands-on.  Another strength is that it reinforces state geography.  Children have to know which state is which, to know where to go.  It also improves research skills, reading skills, and deductive reasoning skills.  I could not find any weaknesses in this game.
