Permission Slip
This permission slip is designed to make sure that parents will allow their child to use the Internet in my classroom.  It is also used to communicate with parents the reasons why the Internet will be used in my classroom.

Context
This permission slip was created in the fall of 2001 while at Appalachian State University.  It was created to use with certain technology projects that will be done in my classroom that require students to use the Internet.  Since students will be using the Internet, parental permission is needed.

Impact
I will use this permission slip in my own classroom as a way of making sure that parents will allow their child to use the Internet in my classroom.  Some parents may feel uncomfortable with their student using the Internet so I think that this permission slip will give them the opportunity to initially discuss their feelings about this with me so that we can work together through any problems that may arise.

Alignment
This permission slip helps promote a safe and healthy use of technology resources because it helps to ensure child safety in my classroom.  The letter will provide a way for me to inform the parents on why we will be using the Internet and what sites we will be going to throughout the project.  This will help to promote parent/teacher communication as well as help to provide the students with a healthy and safe experience when working with technology resources (Technology Competency 6D)
