    Dear parents,
Hello from second grade! This is just another letter to inform you of what is happening in second grade right now. We are currently doing a unit on penguins and Antarctica. We are reading about penguins in reading groups and guided reading, and we are learning about the habitats, behavior, and life cycle of penguins in science. In social studies we are concentrating on the continent of Antarctica. We are having great fun as we learn loads of cool information about Antarctica and penguins. In math we are studying two digit addition. It takes a lot more thinking than simple one digit addition, so we are spending a little more time on it than usual .
We are running low on materials in the classroom, so it would be greatly appreciated if you could bring some more pencils, erasers, and notebook paper by at your convenience. Snack is running low as well. Thank you very much for anything that you have already contributed.
Please remember that we are going on a field trip this Thursday, March 7, to ASU to Horn in the West to see how people lived two hundred years ago. This should a very fun and educational trip, so we are looking forward to it. If your child hasn't paid the $2.00, please send it as soon as possible.
Overall, everything is great in second  grade. We are learning a lot and having fun doing it. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
                            Sincerely,
                                Ms. Dale
