Net Nanny Reflection

Net Nanny is a program that can be purchased over the internet which helps control useage of the internet.  The makers of Net Nanny believe that parents should have control over what their families view on the internet.  This program offers a way to block certain sites and emails from a home computer.  By searching Net Nanny's database, adults can choose from a variety of sites that they would like to block and make unavailable.  The database is updated frequently to keep track of new sites which might be created and harmful for children.
Net Nanny offers protection from things such as pornography, hate literature, bomb formulas, sexually explicit materials, hate emails, violence, and drugs.  People can choose to either filter out negetive sites or only allow positive sites.  On the website, www.netnanny.com, there are reactions from parents and other adults stating their opinions of Net Nanny.  Parents can also monitor Internet use and browsing.
I think this software seems like a good investment.  There are so many things available to children over the internet now.  If I were a parent, I would like to know that my children will be protected from some of the sites.  I think it is impossible to completely shelter a child from bad things on the internet, but it is good to think that you can take a part in it.  I really like this software and would probably invest in it if I had children that were on teh computer and internet often.
