Television Resources

Discovery Channel- This station is great way for children to learn about science and animals.  It would be beneficial for older Elementary-aged children, as well as Middle School-aged kids.  TV shows such as Animal Planet, TLC, the Discovery Channel, and the History Channel are all part of the network called “Discovery Channel.”

Nickelodeon- This channel is for younger children in the mornings and older children in the afternoons.  If focuses on morals, values, and everyday problems that a child at this age may face.  It has game shows, news programs, mysteries, cartoons, movies, and much more.

PBS- This station is very good for younger Elementary-aged children.  It includes shows such as Mister Roger’s Neighborhood, Barney and Friends, Sesame Street, Teletubbies, and many more.  These shows are geared toward children between the ages of 2-5.  They focus on self-esteem, relationships, and other aspects of growing up.

Channel ONE- This program is shown in Middle Schools and High Schools.  It is a news program created to inform students of current events and prevalent issues.  If a school agrees to show Channel ONE, they will be given televisions for each classroom, as well as other technological products.  This program is shown during homeroom and integrated into specific subjects.
