Bilingual Education and Special Needs

Description: Bilingual education is something I believe teachers deal with a lot now a days and everyday teachers come up with many different and new ways to get across to these children and still teach them to speak English in their own time.  With a computer and the internet you have a world of lesson plans and activities to use to help a non-English speaking child and think about ways to include the child within the classroom (13.3). As a teacher, I will have to recognize the fact that there will be students in my classroom that cannot speak English and it will be my duty to help them in every way possible.  It is necessary that the children who are English illiterate must learn the English language and proper grammer.  All of this can be taught and understood in an elementary way.  There are many different type of computer software to help teach those children who are bilingual and need to learn English.  These sorts of computer activities would show a child improvement and once they see this improvement they want to learn more.

  • Special Needs:  The computer and other forms of technology can be useful in many ways to help out a child with special needs.  For instance, a computer can help a child to communicate if too severly retarded and can also help a blind child "see" (13.2).
