Permission Slip
During my senior year at ASU I had to do a project that focused on an individual child.  This project would contain samples of his work, video taping, and pictures of the child.  The child I choose was in the kindergarten class at Mabel Elementary School.  To be able to do all these tasks with the child I had to get permission from his parents.  I was given a permission slip, from my professor, to send home so I could get a release to do this project with this student.
By using the permission slip I am communicating to the parents about what is happening in the classroom.  As a teacher I know that I will need to let parents know what is going on in the classroom.  I also know that the permission of the parents is very important in doing some projects where their child would be filmed and studied.  The permission slip is a legal document that will help the teachers determine whether or not they are able to do a specific activity.
The permission slip that I used communicated to the parents about what project was going to take place.  This permission slip also ensured my safety and the child’s safety of being video taped.  The communication and safety that the permission slip supplies fulfills competency 14.1
