Philosophy of Education

Part of becoming a teacher is to take the responsibility of the futures of the children in the classroom. In

taking this responsibility there is a promise made that you as a teacher will better these children for the world

that they will face one day.

In my classroom, I believe that every child should have an equal opportunity to learn. With this, children of

every learning style should have their needs met. I also believe that with certain content areas, a child has to

hold it in his hand before he can hold it in his mind. Many of the projects in my classroom will be hands on.

Children must have something that they can see in order to be able to have a concrete knowledge of the

concept being taught. In order to learn, students need to be in a safe and caring environment. They need to feel

that they are free to learn in the classroom. My classroom will consist of an environment  that best helps my

students to learn. I want my students to learn to work through problems independently. When children work

through problems on their own, they learn to think and reason for themselves. Thinking and reasoning is a very

important part of a child’s education.

I realize that as I grow as a teacher, my philosophy and ideas about teaching will grow and change. But the

focus of my career will always be on the best interest of my students.
