Job Descriptions






These are the descriptions of the jobs that will be assigned for all sections of this book and the other books found in the biliography:
 
 


Summarizer:

Your job is to prepare a brief summary of the selected reading. The other members of your group will be counting on you to give a quick (one or two minute) statement that tells the key points or the main highlights of today's reading assignment.
 
 
 


Discussion Director:

Your job is to use the material in the given section to:
· Write one Multiple Choice End of Grade question.  Include the answer and page and paragraph of the proof.
·  Give a problem and possible solution. Include page and paragraph of the section used.
· Make a prediction about what may happen. Include page and paragraph of the section used.
· Give a fact statement. Include page and paragraph of the section used.
· Give an opinion Statement. Include page and paragraph of the section used.
 
 


Passage Picker:

Your job is to:

· Choose passages that interest you and tell why they do.  Include page and paragraph of the section used.
· Tell what the author’s purpose is.
 
 
 
 


Character Sketcher:

Your job is to:
· Find an interesting character from the section
· Find three word which describe this character
· For each of these words give the page and paragraph of the section used to determine that character trait.
· Tell one of your character’s goals, or what the character wants to do in this section. Include page and paragraph of the section used to determine this.

· Find one of the character's problems in the section and the solution or possible solution to the problem. Include page and paragraph of the section used to determine this.
 
 


Word Wizard:

Your job is to look for the assigned words in the section.
· Write down the word
· Copy the sentence from the book in which the word appears
· Look up the word in the dictionary
· Using context clues from the sentence and the dictionary definition, write down in your own words the definition of the word.
· Write down the correct part of speech (noun, verb, adjective, adverb)
· Write a sentence of your own with the word in it.
· Make your word wizard card. Be sure to include in big pint your word and the page and paragraph number. On the other side of the card should be a picture, the word, and the definition of the word.
