Special needs modifications are easily incorporated into this unit plan.
This is true because
different reading levels are already provided for. However, some
other modifications that
could be made would be:
· Learning disabled children would benefit mostly
from modifications of the job assignment.
Having them complete part of the job, instead of
all of it will allow them to do their best work.
For example, having them do 1-3 questions for Discussions
Director or 1-3 passages for
Passage Picker would be acceptable for these students.
Also, the teacher can provide them
with a modified Job sheet that has the directions
in a simpler form. This will cause less
confusion and the LD children a chance to complete
a job just like the other children.
· Lower level children and/or behavioral problem
children would benefit from the use of a
tape-recorded reading, reading tutor, reading buddy,
or being in an even smaller group
setting with the resource teacher.
· Another idea specifically for LD children would
be to have them read the assigned section
of their book with the Resource Teacher prior to
reading the assigned section aloud with
their group in class.
