Summary of The Well

In Mildred Taylor's The Well, the Logan family shares their well water with neighbors, black and white alike. David Logan's brother Hammer finds it hard to share with Charlie Simms because he torments them because they are black. One day David attempts to keep the peace between the two families by helping Charlie change his broken tire, only to be punched in the face. This sets off a chain of events which cause a great amount of turmoil between the two families.
