Closure Ideas     The following activities would be done after the Westward Expansion literature circle unit is complete. These activities will assess the students understanding of the material covered in class relating to Westward Expansion.
 

• Have the students revise their Supply List activity. This will give them a chance to change the supplies they would take based upon their reading of this time in history. (See Supply List Activity)
• Students will experience the effort required to make butter. (See Attached Recipe)
• Have students write a reflection compiling the information they learned from this unit.
