2. “I’m hot…Let’s swim.”
3. I chose this passage because it surprised me that Sarah wants to go swimming.  Before now she has seemed reluctant and hesitant to participate in fun things on the farm.
4. How does Sarah’s desire to go swimming make the reader feel?  It made me feel like things are going to work out on the prairie and Sarah will want to stay with the family permanently.
5. The Author’s Purpose is to inform the reader of Sarah’s attitude.

Character Goals
Sarah is trying very hard to preserver on the prairie.  She also wants to make Papa, Anna and Caleb happy.

Problem
Sarah misses her family and the landscape of Maine.

Solution
She finds similarities between the prairie landscape and the landscape from back east.  She also makes new friends and gets a new “family.”
