1. Figurative Language Passage:
Page number: 11
Lines: 1-4
"This is Ki-pat,
who watched his herd
As he stood on one leg,
like the big stork
bird;"
This passage contains a simile, which adds description
to the passage, and gives the reader a visual image of what Ki-pat looks
like.
2. Descriptive Passage:
Page number: 11
Lines: 5-8
"Ki-pat, whose cows
were so hungry and dry,
They mooed for the rain
to fall from the sky;"
This passage is descriptive in that it shows the
reader how badly the animals need for the rain to fall from the sky.
3. Descriptive Passage:
Page number: 20
Lines: 1-4
"This was the shot
that pierced the cloud
And loosened the rain
with thunder LOUD!"
I chose this passage because it describes when the
rain finally gets released from the cloud, and the plain starts to get
the rain that it has been needing.
4. On Your Own Passage:
Page Number: 15
Lines: 1-8
" This is the arrow
Ki-pat put together,
With a slender stick
and an eagle feather;
From the eagle who happened
to drop a feather,
A feather that helped
to change the weather."
I chose this passage because it begins to tell how
Ki-pat is going to get it to rain on the plain. It shows his creativity
in putting the arrow together with the things that he has around him.
