Word Wizard

Find the following words in the story, and complete the given tasks:

• wharfs (pg 1)
• swells (pg 5)
• lure (pg 5)
• flukes (pg 5)

1. Write the word.

2. Copy the sentence the word appears in.

3. Write what kind of speech it is.

4. Look up the word in the dictionary and write the definition in your own words.

5. Write what this word has to do with the story and why it is important.

6. Make a Word Wizard Card.
 
 

Illustrator

Your job is to draw some kind of picture related to the reading. Draw any scene from the story that you liked or  that has been discussed or that sticks out in your mind as important. Then write a brief paragraph about your drawing. Be sure to include the following:

• Who or what the picture is about
• Where the picture takes place
• When it is happening
• Why you drew it
