Cause/ Effect Question
On page 23 paragraph 1; Henry has broken out into spots.  What do you think caused these spots to appear?
On pages 20-21 Henry starts to feel weird, which means he is probably getting sick.  The spots could come from eating too much chocolate.

Fact/ Opinion
On page 13 paragraph 1;  people say that Henry Green "wasn't really born, but hatched, fully grown, from a chocolate bean. What do you think about this statement is it fact or opinion?  And why do you think people said that?
This statement is opinion.  I think that people said that because Henry loved chocolate so much.  Another reason they might think that he was hatched because they believe the story to be a tall tale or a fictional story.

Compare and Contrast Henry's brother, Mark, with Henry's sister, Elizabeth.
p 15
Mark is ten and tall and good to Henry.  Henry and Mark argue sometimes but for the most part they get along.  Mark is fun to be with and only gets mad when Henry calls him Marco Polo.  Mark likes to be on time and likes fried eggs.  Mark and Henry walk to school.
Elizabeth is very old, almost 14.  She did not talk to Henry or Mark very much.  Elizabeth is wise and almost grown up.  She likes buttery toast and milk.  Elizabeth takes the bus to get to high school.

Characterization
On page 29; Nurse Molly Farthing is very concerned about cleanliness the infirmory.  She even goes as far as making Henry and Mrs. Kimmelfarber wipe their  feet before coming into the infirmary.  Why is Nurse Farthing so strict when it comes to cleanliness?
Nurse Farthing believes that dirt breeds germs.  She even says that germs have a nasty way of making healthy people sick.

Prediction
Do you think that Nurse Farthing will know what is wrong?  If so what will she do to cure it?  If not what do you think will happen next?
Nurse Farthing will not know what is wrong with Henry but she will take him to a doctor to  find out what is wrong.  I think that the doctor will not know what is wrong either but that he will run many tests on Henry.
