Because April 15th when everyone's taxes are due to the government.

I think that Marvin wanted to get into trouble so that he would not have to go outside and ride bikes with his friends because he was afraid.  This was a way that he could avoid riding his bike without embarrassing himself.

6.  The author included this passage in the story so that the reader could understand how afraid Marvin was about riding his bicycle.  He was expressing Marvin's feelings towards his fear.

3.  This is an example of a descriptive passage.

4.  This is a descriptive passage because it is describing Casey Happleton.  The passage talks about where she sits in the class and what her hair looks like.

5.  Why do you think the author goes into more detail than just saying that Casey Happleton has a ponytail?  How do you think that this adds character to Casey?
Because now the readers can understand that Casey wears her hair in a side ponytail and it adds to her character in that she probably has an outgoing personality.

6.  This passage adds character traits to Casey Happleton.  It is important for the readers to learn about this character so they can visually see and remember her throughout the book.

6.  I think that the author included this passage as a fun way to introduce the importance of Suicide Hill and to express to the readers how scary it is!
