When Carla dropped 100 crayons on the floor she did not react in a harsh way, she greeted Bradley's mom at the door like nothing happened.
 

Carla is genuine and open

Carla had heard rumors and horror stories about Bradley Chalkers and did not make any judgements of him because she is genuinely kind. She is very open and  frank with whomever she talks to and makes her point. Her point was that she thought that everyone should start with a clean slate.
 

Carla is all the rage and hip

Even though Carla is an adult in the school system, she is not afraid to be herself, who sports a Rock and Roll t-shirt. This just signifies that Carla wants to fit in with the students and make them feel comfortable by relating to what students enjoy.

Carla's goal is to try and help Bradley with his behavioral problem.

Carla's problem is that she will have to fit in the new school with her diverse ways.
Carla's solution is to be herself and help as many students as she can. She has a gift and needs to use her talent.
