The Closure Activity will be as follows:
-
After having read their Literature Circle book(s) and completed
subsequent jobs for six sections of reading, the groups of students that
worked together during the Launch activity will come back together. These
groups will be asked to complete the L portion of the KWL charts
they began at the beginning of the unit. The L in KWL stands
for what has been learned after reading the Literature Circle books. Each
group will be given several letters of the alphabet (number of letters
depends on number of students in the class). Each group will complete
a page of an ABC book with each of their letters, describing something
they have learned from the reading of their Literature Circle books.
The ABC book will be put together as a representation of what students
learned about 1700s Colonial life as a result of their Literature Circle
experience. Students will also participate in a "Colonial Dress-up Day"
to bring closure to their Colonial study.
