in 1774

*Since this section deals with true facts and what life would be like in 1774, the four students in the group will do Investigator jobs, while one student will do a Character Sketcher Job.

Investigator 1

    Your job is to dig up background information on the French and Indian War.  Do a search on www.yahooligans.com to find information about this war.  You will bring this information back to the group to help to see how many events brought on the American Revolution.

Certain things to look for are:
-Who fought in the war?

-Where and When was it fought?

-Why was it fought?

-What is the significance of the war to the American Revolution?
 

Investigator 2

Your job is to dig up background information on the several taxes and unfair acts imposed on the colonies during this time period before the Revolutionary War.  Do a search on www.Yahooligans.com to find information about these taxes/acts (Do a search on American Revolution or Revolutionary War.)  Some examples are: Stamp Act, Sugar Act, Townshend Acts, etc.  There are many others, but I want you to find them.  You will bring this information back to the group to help to see how several events brought about the Revolutionary War.

Certain things to look for are:
-List out the taxes/acts imposed by the british and tell what they did.

-Who imposed these taxes?

-When were they imposed?

-Did any of these bring about revolt/protest?  If so, which ones and why?

-What, in your opinion, really was the main factor in bringing about the Revolutionary War?

Investigator 3

Your job is to dig up information about Paul Revere and his impact in the American Revolution.  Do a search on www.yahooligans.com to find information about him and what he did.  You will bring this information back to the group to help to see how several events brought about the Revolutionary War.

Certain things to look for are:

What did Paul Revere do?

When did he do it?

What was the significance of what he did?

Do you think that Paul Revere is a hero?  Why or why not?

Investigator 4

Your job is to dig up information about the Declaration of Independence and its impact on the American Revolution.  Do a search on www.yahooligans.com to find information about this important document.  You will bring this information back to the group so the group can discuss its significance on the American Revolution.

Certain things to look for are:

Where and when was it signed?

Who were some main people involved with the Declaration of Independence?  How were they involved?

What is the basic meaning of the Declaration of Independence?
 

Character Sketcher
Your job is to make up a character that could have lived in 1774.  Find three words that describe your character.  For each word, or character trait, you will give the proof, or example (including the page and paragraph number) from the last section of the book.
    Next, tell a possible goal of your character.
    Then, make up a problem that your character could have had.  After that, tell how your character would solve, or go about solving this problem.
    Finally, draw/illustrate your character.
