The
Great Depression
Launch
Activity:
-
Students will brainstorm
ideas about what they think the Great Depression was like for people living
in the 1930's. Students will then create a picture about these ideas with
3-5 describing words on their picture.
-
Next the students will
be shown clips from the movie "The Grapes of Wrath" which depicts life
during the Great Depression.
-
Then students will do
the same activity as before, and illustrate their ideas about the Great
Depression with 3-5 describing words on their picture. Students will discuss
what the differences were between their first picture and their second.
-
The class will then have
a discussion about the Depression and what life was like for people living
in this time period. Students should also discuss things they have heard
about the Great Depression from family members or friends.
