ESL Student:
ESL learners should be placed into the lower level reading group to allow students to work with easier text to improve vocabulary, fluency and reading rate.
-Reading aloud
-Pre taped reading
-Picture sorts
-Prereading of material before class reads
-Test to assess reading level
-Echo reading
-Work with ESL teacher to incorporate readings
-Have word wizard child cut or draw pictures for words
-Have student keep a picture dictionary
-Have student read with a partner
ADHD Student:
-Have breaks for stretching, bathroom, etc.
-Buddy system
-Stand up instead of raising hands for questions (entire class)
-Make child aware of daily schedule
-Activities to engage child and keep them on task
-Give individualized instruction
LD Student:
Depending on the disability several adaptations could be made.
-Read story aloud
-Allow students who have difficulty writing be more involved in
jobs that require illustrating
-Partner reading
-Tape recorded versions of the book
