This unit
is designed for 14 days; six reading days, six discussion days, a day for
the launching activity and a day for the culminating activity. It is designed
for the fifth grade classroom, but it is planned and structured on three
different reading levels. It also contains a list of competencies and goals
from the NCDPI curriculum that addresses the following subjects:
English/Language Arts, Social Studies, Computer Technology, and Communication.
There is also a biblography, reference materials, modifications for special
needs students, and an extension to Social Studies.
