A. "I'm as tall as our corn."
I chose this passage because it deal with the amount of rain they are getting.
Why did he compare himself to the corn? He compared himself to the

B. The storm sounded
like a train roaring past. I chose this passage because it describes
what the dust storm sounded like. Why do you think the storm sounded
like a train? It sounded like a train because it was so big and was

C. Papa closed all the
windows and doors, but the dust still blew inside. I choose this
passage because it explained how fierce the storms really were? How
do you think they kept the dust from harming them? They put wet clothes
over their mouths and noses to keep the dust from blowing up them.

were small. I chose this passage because it describes how the crops
were dying because of the lack of rain. Why is there not enough rain
to keep these crops growing? Because of the dust storms. (descriptive)
