Samuel
Traits:  In this section, the author portrays Samuel as brave and courteous.  For example, on page 17, par. 5, Samuel offers a boy some milk to drink and then saves his life on page 19, par. 1.
His bravery is exemplified on p. 32, par. 2, when he sails across the harbor in dangerous conditions to save soldiers lives.
Problem:  Samuelís problem is whether to fight in the war.
Goal and Solution: Samuelís ultimate goal is find out the cost of freedom.  He accomplishes his goal by sailing across the harbor, and eventually beats the British in the battle; he was free.
