1. "The policeman told my father....We were scared."

I chose this passage because it explains what happened when the father was arrested and the little girl said they were scared.

How do you think the little girls felt when the police officer was driving their new Cadillac? Why?

Answer: The girls probably felt very confused, scared, and angry.  They didn't understand why their dad had been arrested

2. "My father looked.....with Northern plates."
Pg. 37 Par. 2

I chose this passage because the father is explaining to his daughter why the policeman had treated him that way and why they couldn't drink out of the water
fountains or eat in the restaurants.

What does the family wish they could do?

Answer: That they could drive to the south and not see any signs or be stopped by policeman just for having Northern plates and driving a cadillac.
