Compare and Contrast Blackbeard the Pirate
Not So Jolly Roger and Other Resources

Step 1

In the book, The Not So Jolly Roger, we meet Blackbeard the famous pirate.
Look carefully on pages 12 & 13, 21, 26 & 27, 32, 54 & 55 (and others) for information about Blackbeard.
Take notes on the information you learn about Blackbeard, and write down where the information came from (page number).

Step 2

When you have finished, go to our pirate reference materials page and find information about Blackbeard there.
You want to make sure you look at these sites:

Find at least one more site that is not listed here (you will need to reference it). Take notes on the information you find as you read through these resources, remember to document where you found the information. List the Web site and sometimes you might quote some of the information.

Step 3

Look over the graphic organizer links on our Web site (interdisciplinary literacy study), and select one type to display the information you have collected.
Since you are comparing information from the book The Not So Jolly Roger to other sources of information, I think the following types of organizers will work best:

Make your graph, summarizing the information you have gathered, with the references about where the information came from.
These graphs should be produced electronically, saved, and sent to me as attached files to an e-mail message.
Please edit for spelling and grammar.

Don't be afraid to get creative with your graph; have fun with it.
