Me Map*
An Introductory Activity
Your assignment is to complete a Me Map of yourself. This first draft will be geared toward 3rd-5th graders. You need to include an illustration, photograph, or an artistic impression of you. Your first draft will be word processed. Under each category, you will include at least four descriptions along with the explanations. For example, if you describe yourself as acting enthusiastic, explain when or how you act enthusiastic. You may also wish to include other graphics and pictures for each category. Please incorporate descriptive phrases and characteristics. Please refer to the "Character Traits Descriptive Adjectives" link to help you describe your personality or how you act. You will also need to include at least one simile under the category "What I Look Like."
Your Me Map should include the following categories:
* What I Like
* What I Dislike
* What I Look Like
* How I Act (Personality)
* What You Should Know About Me
Look at the examples provided on the portrait poem assignment page.
For the final copy of your Me Map, you may choose the grade level to which you will gear the Me Map and make the final version. Then use it to introduce yourself to the students in your internship classroom!
You have many different options as to how you wish to represent your final Me Map. You may choose one of the following or you may decide upon another unique representation:
* PowerPoint Presentation
* Big Book
*Poster
*Interactive Poster (envelopes which represent each category and pieces of paper representing each description and explanation)
*Little Book
