Description Of Title One
Title One is a federal aid program that serves
elementary, secondary, parochial, and private schools in the United States.
Title One is the largest federal aid program of its kind and provides money
for programs that give additional money for programs that benefits all types
of students.
- If a school's student body is composed of 50 or more percent living
in impoverished conditions, the school is entitled to receive additional funds
from the federal government in the form of Title One Benefits.
- Title One's goal is for all students to work toward and reach high
standards. This means that students should work toward reaching their
own grade level.
- Some schools have a Title One teacher, while others only have resource
teachers also provided by and paid for with Title One funds.
- Students who are behind and need extra help in reading and math
are eligible for Title One instruction, regardless of their family's income.
