Directions for the teacher:

* At the front of the classroom, have a box full of odd, household items.  There should be enough items for each pair of students to share an item.  It might be a good idea to keep the items a secret in order to hinder the students from creating preconceived notions about what the items are used for.

* Begin class by presenting a demo of an item that you have invented, or use the one on the main page of this site.  Encourage students to be creative, open-minded, and imaginative because there are no definite possibilities to what the items can be used for.

* Introduce students to the use of digital cameras and how their images can be saved to a disk and brought up on the computer screen.  The link below will assist you in doing so.

* Introduce students to the use of Netscape Navigator and Netscape Composer for creating web pages.  The link below will give instructions to aid in this process.

* Have students formally brainstorm to create different uses for their items.  They should then write newspaper articles advertising their items to others who may be unfamiliar with the item and its uses.

* Assist students in taking pictures using their invented items with the digital cameras.  Students may also need assistance in saving their pictures to a disk, starting their web pages, and opening their digital pictures on the main page.

* After everyone has completed this assignment, allow students to present their invented items to the class and pull up the web pages of various other students.
