Group Invention Mission:
  • It is your group's mission to pick an object from your teacher's stash of inventions.
  • You must invent a new use for your object.  It must be completely different from its original use!
  • Use a digital camera to take pictures of the invention in use.
  • Insert the disk into a computer.
  • Open the file in a photograph editing program such as Photoshop.
  • Resize it and adjust color.
  • Hints on using Photoshop.

  • Each students should save this file to their disks.

Individual Journalism Mission:
  • Each one of you will become a journalist or reporter.
  • You will write an article or advertisement about your invention.
  • Follow the writing process:
    • Pre-writing
      •     Decide your purpose, audience, and main ideas or facts.
      •     If you write a newspaper article, inform your readers.
      •     If you write an advertisement, persuade your readers.
    • Rough Draft
      •     Organize it into a newspaper article or advertisement.
      •     Be creative.
    • Editing
      •     Email or give your rough draft to your teacher and a peer for editing.
      •     Make corrections and additions.
    • Final Draft
      • Put the finishing touches on your article.
      • Make sure there are no grammatical, spelling, or punctuation errors.

  • Now each of you will become web page masters.
  • Create a web page that includes your final draft and pictures.

  • Include your email address so teachers and other readers can respond to your web page.
  • After the web page has been checked for accuracy and is functioning properly, put on a server.
  • Hints for putting a web page on a server.
