#9 Twenty-first Century Skills
This is a Powerpoint presentation that I completed with a group to fulfill course requirements for LRE 5700 under the instruction of Dr. Jenkins. The artifact is our answer to questions about 21st century technology skills in the school.

Context
I took LRE 5700 (Educational Leadership) as an elective. I chose this class, because even though it is not in the Reading program, I have much interest in the area of school leadership. This class was geared towards principals and the policies/programs about which they must make decisions. We discussed several theorists and theories on leadership throughout the class.

The above artifact is a presentation focused on the current 21st Century Skills policy facing North Carolina schools. My group and I researched the policy and what schools are doing. We then put together a plan for staff development to teach teachers how to incorporate technology into the classroom.

Although I don't currently hold a principal position, I found the class to be very beneficial in that I was able to glean information on the various ways to lead students. And what is a teacher who cannot lead students? I use the ideas I gained on leadership from this class on a daily basis.

Alignment to Standards

Principal A: Instructional Expertise--The candidate demonstrates instructional expertise by applying the theoretical, philosophical, and research bases for educational practice in P-12 settings to improve student learning.
In this artifact, my group and I researched the current policies for p-12 classrooms and developed a plan to implement the 21st Century Technology skills into the classroom. This shows instructional expertise, because I used research and theory to improve student learning

Principal D: Content Knowledge--The candidate demonstrates advanced depth and breadth of knowledge and skills in the academic discipline and in education.
This artifact demonstrates my knowledge of the skills required in the computer technology discipline for North Carolina.

Principal E: Professional Development and Leadership--The candidate engages in continued professional development and provides leadership at the classroom, school, and community levels, and within the profession.
The end result of this artifact was a professional development plan that could be implemented by leadership to teach teachers how to incorporate 21st century skills into their classroom lessons.
