Artifact: Author Study This was done in the Advanced Children's Literature class. This was done with a partner to learn more about a particular author and use various technology resources for research and presentation.

Context:  This project was done in Advances Studies of Children's Literature to demonstrate the use of technology  and to do an in depth study of an author. This type of presentation encourages students to learn more about a particular author and to be introduced to some of the author's other works.  By encouraging students to pursue additional readings of the same author a teacher can enhance concepts of style and purpose.  Additionally, this presentation models an example PowerPoint presentation that students can use and incorporate into there own ways of communicating and doing reports.  This is widely used on the middle school level.

Impact:  This presentation allowed me to learn more about a specific author.  Additionally, I was able to explore various web sites about several authors.  this is a valuable resource to use in getting students to do their own research using the internet.  I have been able to have students go to site about Gary Paulsen and Avi.  They enjoy being able to make their own posters and reports.  They have been allowed to use the computer to publish their writings. The author study lets students selective an alternative approach to the traditional report. They enjoy discovering new creative techniques, methods of graphic organizing, and other techniques involving  the computer. This allowed them another means to portray their works and acquired knowledge.
