                                                       Activity:

THe teacher will hand out a variety of old objects.  Students will devide up in groups of three or four and will pick will object that they want.  They are to come up with a new invention for their object.  Then they will take pictures of their objects using a digital camera and put these pictures on the internet.  Students will write a a commercial ad about their invention and put it on a webpage with their pictures of the invention.

process:

Step 1: At the beginning of class the teacher will count off students into groups of three or four.  Then each group of students will pick an object on the desk in the front of the room.  After each group has picked their object they will go back to their seats with their group and brainstorm ideas about their new invention.  Once they have all decided what their object is going to be the teacher should hand out digital cameras and a disk and explain how to use a digital camera.  they will then start taking digital photos of their object. the group can decide what kind of picture they want to take, if they want to be in the picture, fine, if not fine, whatever they decide.  but they need to remember they are going to use these pictures in their commercial ad on a webpage.
step2: after the students finish with their pictures they are going to go to the computer.  they will insert the disk into the computer.  the program that the children will be using is  Adobe Photo Shop.   Using this program, students can resize their pictures, change the color, and brightness.  It is a very easy program to use.  students will work on this for however long they need in class until they get their pictures how they want them for their commercial ad.  students need to save their newly remodeled pictures on their disk.
step 3: After students have saved their pictures they will put their pictures along with an ad on netscape composer.  For help on making a web page Click here.
