Students, here is your chance to become an amazing inventor.  You will be in a small group.  Your task is to select a piece of "junk" from your teachers' collection and come up with a NEW invention for your "junk".  You will write an advertisement for your new invention, take photographs of your invention in action, and then create a web page to display your new invention.  Remember to be creative and have fun!!!  Follow the directions below to become an amazing inventor.

How to become an Amazing Inventor:

1.  With your group, select one contraption from your teachers' "junk" collection.

2.  Brainstorm ideas of a way your group can create a completely NEW invention for
your contraption (DO NOT USE WHAT THE CONTRAPTION IS REALLY
     INVENTED FOR)

3.  After selecting an invention, your group will use a digital camera to take
photographs of your new invention in action.

4.  Using Adobe Photo Shop, you will resize your pictures in order to put them
on a web page.  Save the pictures to your zip disk.
**Hints for using Adobe Photoshop to resize pictures**

5.  Individually, write an advertisement about your invention. (Example:  A
water detector is not a water detector, it could be an alien/date finder. Write
a descriptive advertisement about an alien/date finder.)  There is an
example of an advertisement found on the "example page."

6.  Using Microsoft Word, type your advertisement.  Be sure to Spell Check
and Proof Read your work!!  SAVE YOUR WORK!!

7.  Using Netscape Composer, create your web page.  You may copy and paste your
advertisement and digital pictures onto your web page.  Your teacher will help you
with this part of the assignment if needed.
**Hints for using Netscape Communicator to create web pages**

8.  List the resources you used in your web page.

9.  Be sure to include an email link on your web page.

10. After you have completed your web page, email your teacher and describe the
progress you have made with your web page.
