Literature Database

This is a database of children's book summaries and reviews.

Context

After reading a number of children's books.  I summarized, reviewed, and created activities to go along with each book.

Impact

This database can be accessed from anywhere in the world with an online computer.  If a book is being considered for classroom reading, having access to this database will allow for research and information on certain books.  By doing this, a teacher will be able to see if a particular book is suitable for his/her students.

Alignment

Having access to the internet can be so beneficial as a teacher.  A teacher can use technology resources to engage in ongoing professional development and lifelong learning (technology standards V C).  Using a literature database as a reference, a teacher understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the discipline(s) he or she teaches and can create learning experiences that make these aspects of subject matter meaningful for students (INTASC 1).
