Letter to Parents

This was a newsletter developed to introduce myself to the students and parents of the 3rd grade classroom that I am was doing my internship in.

Context

This newsletter is a brief introduction of myself to the students and parents of the class in which I was doing my internship.  I felt it very important for both groups to get an idea of who I am and where I was coming from.

Impact

A bi-weekly or monthly newsletter is a great tool for a teacher to communicate with his/her student's parents.  A newsletter can be used for a variety of reasons, but regardless is a great way to keep the parents of your students informed and involved of what is going on in your classroom.

Alignment

A letter to parents fits in the criteria for technology competency goal V D because it allows me to communicate with parents and students about what is going on in the classroom.  A parent letter has many functions for a teacher.  Since it allows me to fosters relationships with school colleagues, parents, and agencies in the larger community to support students' learning and well-being, I am fulfilling INTASC Standard 10.  Communicating with the people you work with and work for is very important when being a teacher, and a newsletter to parents or co-workers can be very beneficial.
