#10: Computer
Skills Curriculum & Assessment
Description:
This page is linked to the North Carolina Standard Course of Curriculum
for Computer/Technology Skills . It is used to ensure that students
acquire the appropriate knowledge in computer skills at each grade level.
Also included is how to assess the knowledge gained at each level.
Competencies
& Rationales:
10.1
& 10.4: This is the link to the K-2
Grade
level which I have accessed because that is where I am doing my internship
and student teaching. Included are ideas for teaching these skills.
I plan to incorporate these skills into other curricular areas. For
example, students will use computer skills for word processing skills to
help them understand that computers can be used for work and play
(Goal
K1.5), be able to use sorting manipulatives or software for
grouping purposes (Goal K2.3), and
use computer skills to help them organize story parts into sequential order
(Goal
K3.2).
10.5:
In
assessing student work at the Kinsergarten level I would focus on the following
areas: How well students are able to find their way around the keyboard,
how well they operate various computer functions, their sequencing skills,
and their demonstration of respect for the work of others (K
Grade Level Focus Areas).
