Description: The media literacy project is a lesson about advertising as taught to a third grade class.  The lesson included creating a product and designing a promotion for it.

Competencies & Rationales:
10.2 Our lesson plan for the Media Literacy Project is based around using multimedia.  We use a variety of sources to present material to the students.  For instance, clips from TV, magazine ads and billboards.

11.1Our use of telecommunications comes from our commercial examples.  We use them in the lesson to show how promotional ads are done.

     14.3 Included in the lesson is a discussion and examples
          of the ways which media falsifies information to promote 
          a product.  This is used to indicate the social impact media 
          has on our lives.
