To wrap up the Louis Sachar unit, an activity that teachers could incorporate into the closure is a game called Ball Toss.  Ball Toss is a fun way to assess student learning and reading comprehension skills.  Students randomly toss a ball to one another in a circle and answer the questions that appear under their right thumbs.  The Ball Toss encourages students to communicate to their peers information that they have learned throughout the unit.
