Cedar Springs at Night
Visit historic Cedar Springs downtown for a glimpse of the past. In the early 1900's the town was a beehive of activity due to the gold rush. In the early 1970's a group of developers, known as Cedar Springs Developers, came together to preserve what was left of the historical buildings in Cedar Springs. Today the older buildings have been renovated and new ones built to blend into the existing ones. Shops, restaurants, and warehouse apartments are located where old manufacturing businesses once stood.
*Tanger Factory Outlet- Don't miss this collection of shops and stores. Name brands such as the Gap, Donna Karan, Brooks Brothers, and many more make their home at the old Cedar Springs Textile Mill. Look closely and you can see the deep scars and discoloration on the hardwood floors that tell the history of the mill.
*Cedar Springs Aquarium and IMAX theater- Located near the old train depot, the aquarium and IMAX are the newest additions to downtown. While visiting the aquarium you can walk through mountain streams and get a close look at trout and otters. Continue on through the NC Piedmont area to view the turtles, catfish, and bass. As your journey finds you in the Coastal Plain you can get up close and personal with the alligators, frogs, and snakes. The Atlantic Ocean will be the last stop. Don't forget to say good-bye to the loggerhead turtles and stingrays. At the IMAX theater, you can watch such breathtaking movies as "Everest","Dinosaurs", and "Amazing Caves".
*Children's Discovery Museum-One block away from the aquarium is the Children's Discovery Museum. A favorite of both the young and old, the Children's Discovery Museum has exhibits that are interactive and hands-on. Pretend you are flying above the earth in the new "International Space Lab" exhibit. Imagine you are white blood cell fighting off bacteria in the "Magic School Bus" exhibit. Try your hand at making music on the steel drums in the "Music of the Caribbean" exhibit.
*Centerfest Park-Take a break at the Centerfest Park. A children's playground, a dancing water fountain, and shaded picnic areas are available for your use. During the summer months, enjoy "Jazz Alive" on Thursday nights. Jazz music fills the air and smells of food from the street vendors tempt your senses.
*Cedar Springs Depot- In the early 1900's the 1400 block of Market Street served as a train depot. Hundreds of visitors passed through until faster modes of transportation became available. After years of being vacant, Cedar Springs Developers, purchased the property, renovated it, and now it is home to the Cedar Springs Choo-Choo. Take a step back in time and stay for the night in a reconditioned sleeper car. Each car has a small setting area, bedroom, and a bath. In case you get hungry, you can step across the tracks and visit the Silver Diner, a restaurant dining car that offers five star dining.
Summer Nights

After a full day of activities, relax at America's favorite pastime, baseball. Visit the Crash Davis Stadium, home of the Cedar Springs Chipmunks. The Chipmunks are a Double A affliate of the Atlanta Braves. A children's playground and visits with Chipmunk's mascot, Chipper Chipmunk, help to keep the younger fans entertained. A walking trail is located around the perimeter of the ballfield for those who enjoyed one too many hotdogs!
Tuning Up at Pritchard's Peak Ampitheater
If baseball sounds too stressful, relax to the sounds of music at Pritchards's Peak amphitheater. Located at the base of Pritchard's Peak, the amphitheater hosts local musicians who entertain with a wide variety of music. Folk music and country music are available on Friday and Saturdays, with Southern Gospel on Sunday. The Cedar Springs Community Orchestra performs each July 4th, followed by a fireworks show.
