Teaching Suggestions:
(1) This project requires approximately 4 weeks to complete therefore, allow for ample time with the Computers for research and the creation of brochures and graphic organizers.
(2) A word processing program may be used instead of Desktop Publisher to create brochures. Divide the page into 3 columns before beginning, so the page can later be folded like a brochure.
(3) If students are not familiar with using the Internet, I would advise you to spend some time prior to this WebQuest orienting them to the web.
(4) Model the final project you would like them to create.
(5) Guide students through their first day exploring web sites. (6) Remind students that they should not spend too much time searching and no time writing.
(7) Teachers should constantly monitor progress and encourage students to stay on task.
(8) Make certain that every member of the group (3-4 students) participates on the assignment. Every child should benefit from this project.
